Wilkes-Barre firefighters work to extinguish a blaze at a vacant home at 365 S. Sherman St. after 6 p.m. Sunday. Fire Capt. Alan Klapat said the single-family home was under contract to be sold, and the owner, Andrea Burmeifter of Luzerne, was having plumbing work done. Klapat said the plumber overheated some pipes and wood between the basement and first floors while soldering, which ignited the fire. Firefighters had the blaze out in 20 minutes.
