Surveillance picture released in armed robbery

WILKES-BARRE — City police on Wednesday released a surveillance picture of two men believed to be involved in an armed robbery outside McCarthy’s Tavern on the Hill on East Northampton Street on Saturday.

The victim said he was approached by two black men near his vehicle that was parked on South Sherman Street. A semi-automatic handgun was brandished and the victim claimed the suspects took $50 and his military identification card.

The suspects fled east on foot on East Northampton Street.

Surveillance video shows the suspects in the area at about the same time the robbery occurred.
