SCRANTON — A former Old Forge police chief accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl almost a decade ago has been sentenced to 18 months to four years in prison.

Larry Semenza was sentenced Monday in Lackawanna County Court. A jury convicted the 49-year-old of corrupting a minor and failing to report suspected child abuse, but acquitted him of four other charges, including felony counts of aggravated indecent assault and unlawful contact with a minor.

Prosecutors said Semenza and former police Capt. Jamie Krenitsky assaulted the girl beginning in 2004 when she was 15 and a junior firefighter.

Krenitsky and a former borough firefighter both pleaded guilty to misdemeanor indecent assault and received lighter sentences Monday.
