Fury V. Giovannucci, 85, of 243 Tunnel Road, White Haven, formerly of Freeland, died Monday in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
Born in Raritan, N.J., he was a son of the late Umberto A. and Maria (Antonia) Giovannucci. He was a member of St. John’s Nepoumence Church, Freeland; V.F.W. Post 5010; American Legion post 473; and served as captain of the Freeland Borough, White Haven and Fearnots Fire Police.
Mr. Giovannucci was an avid carpenter, gardener, dancer and all-around handyman, and enjoyed working with his hands and volunteering his time with many different organizations. He will be missed deeply by all who knew and worked with him in his many lifelong pursuits. Before retiring he was the owner/operator of the former Ice Lake Hotel, White Haven, and a purchasing agent for the Tobyhanna Army Depot.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his first wife, the former Ludy Kostick; brother Sal; and sister Josephine DiGraziano.
Surviving are his wife, the former Victoria McGeehan, of White Haven; son Rory and his wife, Bernadette, and their children, Stacy and Cory Giovannucci, Old Forge; daughter Dody and her husband, Dr. Robert Ottaviani, Mountain Top; sister Mary Carnevale, of Raritan, N.J.; sister-in-law Caroline Giovannucci, Florida; many nieces and nephews.

Services and entombment will be private in Calvary Cemetery. The McNulty Funeral Home, 407 Centre St., Freeland, is in charge of all arrangements.
