SCRANTON — Two people from Edwardsville were indicted by a federal grand jury on charges involving the sex trafficking and prostitution of a minor and firearm offenses.

The indictment unsealed Friday alleges Travis Humphrey, 26, known as GT, and Kyoni Humphrey, 24, known as Kyoni Nieves, conspired to force a minor female to engage in prostitution and illegal sexual activity in May 2013 and June 2013.

Travis Humphrey allegedly recruited the girl to engage in prostitution while Kyoni Humphrey transported the girl in a rented Nissan Altima to meet customers in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey, the indictment says.

The indictment further says the they possessed a .9mm pistol during their scheme.

Federal court records say they were indicted on Jan. 21.

Court records in Luzerne County say an arrest warrant was issued for Travis Humphrey on Jan. 6 when he failed to appear for a trial on criminal conspiracy charges filed by Ashley police.

Ashley police allege Travis Humphrey was one of two men involved in a shooting of another man outside the Pour House tavern on North Main Street on July 30, 2012.
