After receiving many calls the Wilkes-Barre Police Department on Saturday issued reminders about the city ordinance that prohibits placing items on the roadway to reserve parking spaces.

It is the responsibility of property owners to clean snow and ice from sidewalks within a reasonable time after a storm. If the walk is not cleared, the city may clear it, report the cost and expense to City Council and make the owner pay the charge or assessment.

Police also said it is against the law to shovel or throw snow onto the street. The ordinance violation is a summary offense punishable by a fine.
