The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) advises motorists of the potential for ponding water on the roadway Thursday night and Friday this week.

Heavy rain and warmer temperatures are expected to cause ponding on the roadway in addition to localized flooding. Pa. Turnpike maintenance crews will continue work to clear storm drains along the roadway, but standing water in the travel lanes could still occur. Motorists should drive with caution and be aware of roadway conditions.

Motorists that see standing water should safely change lanes to avoid it or decelerate before driving through it.

Temperatures are expected to dip below freezing in the overnight hours, which could cause wet pavement to ice over. Crews will be monitoring the roadway and treating as necessary. Motorists should watch out for slick and icy conditions and drive accordingly.
