Eleanor May Kennedy Saunders, 93, of Clarks Summit, died Dec. 23, in Abington Manor, South Abington Twp. Her husband of more than 55 years, Charles George Saunders, died Sept. 28, 1993.

Born May 30, 1916, in Philadelphia, daughter of the late William and Isabel Eagen Kennedy, she was a Clarks Summit resident since 1952, having moved from Fox Chase Manor, Montgomery County. She was a member of Church of the Epiphany, Glenburn, and its pastoral care committee. She was also an acolyte mother. She was a member of the Scranton Canoe Club and its Ladies Golf Association. She had been an active volunteer at Community Medical Center and Meals on Wheels of Lackawanna County. She was also active in the PTA and Boy Scouts, where she served as a den mother.

Eleanor was an avid golfer and bridge player.

Surviving are two sons, William and wife, Donna, Glenside; and Robert, Clarks Summit; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Isabel Longstreet.

Funeral services were to be Saturday, Jan. 16, at Church of the Epiphany by the Rev. Canon William T. Warne II, retired, and the Rev. Craig C. Sweeney, rector. Interment, Woodlawn Memorial Gardens at Church of the Epiphany. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
