Pet walk to benefit animal rescue/hospice

SCRANTON — Tracey’s Hope Hospice Care Program and Rescue for Domestic Animals Inc. will hold the Sixth Annual Memorial Pet Walk and Celebration of Life Event on May 31 at McDade Park in Scranton.


Registration will be at 10 a.m. rain or shine. The cost is $25 per person to walk with a pet or in memory of a deceased pet.


There will be a blessing of the animals by the Rev. Gary Mensinger and a balloon release honoring pets that have died in 2013. Guest Speaker is Tammy Thayne, of Smithfield, Va., CEO and founder of “Dogs Deserve Better.”


Jerry Dreater DJ Productions, The Phyllis Hopkins Band and the state championship cheerleaders of Pittston Area High School will provide entertainment. There will be a demonstration by Alan Finns Designing Dogs; a Kids Korner with games, prizes, a clown, face painting and a petting zoo; psychic readings; a basket auction; vendors; and dogs for adoption.
