WILKES-BARRE — The American Lung Association in Pennsylvania is to host its 12th annual Wilkes-Barre Fight for Air 5K Run and Walk on June 7 at King’s College Betzler Fields, 221 Highland Park Blvd. Event check-in and registration begins at 9 a.m. with the race and walk starting at 10 a.m. This year’s presenting sponsor is Kindred Hospital.
The purpose of the Run and Walk is to raise awareness and monetary support for the 35 million Americans who suffer from asthma and other lung diseases. Each participant that runs in the 5K pays a $25 registration fee; there is no registration fee for those who walk in the event. This year’s goal is to raise $60,000 for prevention, research and advocacy programs, such as Better Breathers Support Groups, asthma camps for children, ‘Lunch and Learn’ programs for businesses and other school-based programs.
