WILKES-BARRE — Cornelio “Cor” Catena, CEO of Commonwealth Health and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, and Brooks Turkel, CEO of Regional Hospital of Scranton, are to serve as co-chairs of the 2014 Northeast PA Heart Ball, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on May 3 in the Westmoreland Club, 59 S. Franklin St. Wilkes-Barre. Tickets for the annual gala cost $175 per person and may now be purchased online at www.northeastpaheartball.heart.org.


Catena was named CEO of Commonwealth Health, an eight-hospital system serving Northeastern Pennsylvania in February 2012. He previously served as CEO of Easton Hospital and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. He is a fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives.


Brooks Turkel was appointed CEO of Regional Hospital of Scranton in November 2011. Turkel previously served as CEO of Chestnut Hill Hospital, a teaching affiliate of the University of Pennsylvania. He also worked in executive positions in other hospitals across the country.


The Northeast PA Heart Ball is an annual event with a Kentucky Derby party theme to raise funds for the American Heart Association. Sen. Bob Casey is to serve as the Open Your Heart chairman and provide remarks. The evening includes dinner, dancing, a silent and live auction and other activities.
