Ruth Claire Murphy Gottshalk, 81, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011. She was born and raised in South Jersey. In 1948, she married Leonard Kepner Gottshalk, settled in South Jersey (in the same house she grew up in), and, together, they had five children.

Ruth was a registered nurse and truly enjoyed working with elderly people. In her spare time, she enjoyed genealogy, particularly South Jersey. She was a lifetime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution — at one time serving as a chapter Regent officer.

She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church.

Ruth was a caring and loving wife and mother who was dedicated to her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Leonard Kepner Gottshalk; along with her two brothers, Sherman and Paul.

Ruth leaves behind her children, Karl (Cathy), Marsha (David), Paula, Alison (Ron), and Sherry; along with nine grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held will be held in South Jersey at the convenience of her family.
