Duryea Troop 285 will conduct an Eagle Scout Court of Honor Reception for Enrico Bruno Connors, of Tedrick Street, Pittston,at 1 p.m. today, May 25 at the American Legion Brennan Regan Post 585 Hall, 329 Main St. Duryea. The reception will be hosted by his parents, James and Paula Connors, and his brother, Jamie.
Veterans of the American Legion sponsor Duryea Troop 285.
Connors is the grandson of Barbara Taroli, of Old Forge, the late Enrico Taroli and the late James and Mary Connors.
He received his Eagle Scout rank from the NEPA Council on Feb. 19.
A senior at Pittston Area High School, he plans to attend Bloomsburg University to major in Business Education. He is a member of the Pittston Area track and field, golf and basketbal teams, a member of the yearbook staff, FBLA, the Leo’s Youth Lions Club, PA Teenage Republicans and was 10th-grade secretary and 11th-grade class president.
He is a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Pittston where he is an altar server and assists with blood drives.
Connors began his scouting career in 2001 with the Old Forge Cub Scout Pack 98 as a Tiger and Wolf Cub Scout and transferred to Duryea Cub Scout Pack 375 in 2004 as a Bear Cub Scout. He received the highest rank of the Arrow of Light on Feb.13, 2007. He received his Religious Medals, the Light of Christ and the Parvuli Dei at Holy Rosary Church in Duryea.
He joined Duryea Boy Scouts on March 29, 2007, crossed the bridge at the Blue and Gold Banquet and received his Boy Scout Badge and became a member of the Eagle Patrol of Duryea Troop 285.
He attended several NEPA Council traveling camporees to Ottawa Canada in 2006, Williamsburg, Virginia in 2008, Pittsburg in 2010 and the Boston Camporee last October. He has camped with the Webelos Overnighter at Merli Sarnoski Park in Carbondale, Kirby Park Spring Camporee and the Gettysburg Weekend. Enrico has attended Goose Pond Summer camp for the past seven years.
He earned 34 merit badges, has assisted with several Eagle Scout projects for his fellow Scouts and has held the positions of responsibilities as Den Chief, Chaplain Aide, Senior Patrol Leader and Jr. Asst Scoutmaster. He currently serves the troop as an Assistant Scoutmaster.
Connors’ Eagle Scout project was arranging and assisting a blood drive for the American Red Cross which at St. John the Evangelist Church in Pittston where he also donated blood.
He is a member of the Lowwapaneu Lodge #191 Order of the Arrow an received his brotherhood in 2011. Connors is the troop’s 24th Eagle Scout since 1992.
