Edwardsville police will get mobile computers

EDWARDSVILLE — Mayor Bernard Dubaskas reported Thursday that he had secured a grant of $6,803 from the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office to purchase mobile computers for the borough’s police vehicles.


Also, council announced that it will hold its annual Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. March 30 at Hopkins Park. The event is sponsored by the Edwardsville Lions and Leo clubs.


In another matter, Secretary Leo Martin announced updates to the ongoing “King Edward” community revitalization project. The project is a joint effort with Kingston to improve properties along Main Street in the boroughs by razing condemned structures and adding landscaping, public parking, facades and new business signs along the busy thoroughfare.


Some of the ongoing work includes: Konefal’s Restaurant working with the borough’s Facade Program to finalize a design for the property before bidding the project.


The Turkey Hill “re-image” project being approved by revitalization officials; work is expected to begin in the spring.


The former Michael’s Bar, at 429 Main St., being purchased by Bellio Plumbing & Heating. It will be the future home of the firm’s expanding business. Bellio also is working with area officials to coordinate a facade scheme for the property.
