WILKES-BARRE — City police are investigating a report of gunshots fired this afternoon at the troubled Sherman Hills apartment complex.
Police Lt. Steven Olshefski said multiple shots were fired in the area of 304 Parkview Circle and police recovered spent shell casings at the scene.
At the time, it is unknown if there was one shooter or more, and no suspect descriptions were available, Olshefski said.
A Luzerne County 911 supervisor said the call came in at 2:52 p.m. Police had cleared the scene by 3:12 p.m.
An investigation continues.
The apartment complex, which consists of a high-rise building and eight three-story buildings off Coal Street, has been plagued with reports of robberies, assaults, narcotics trafficking and, six months ago, the shooting of a police officer who was attempting to serve a warrant.
