HAZLE TWP. - A mother was arraigned Wednesday on charges she left her two children unsupervised while she went to work.

State police at Hazleton charged Claribel Moreno Soriano, 27, of Winters Avenue, with endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment. She was released on $2,500 unsecured bail.

State police said the two male children, ages 5 years and 23 months, were found inside the residence without any supervision late Tuesday night.

A neighbor contacted authorities after noticing Soriano leaving the Winters Avenue residence just before 10 p.m. each night without the children. Soriano had moved into the residence a few weeks ago.

Soriano was found at her place of employment where she works 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

State police said Luzerne County Children and Youth Services took custody of the children.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled on May 15 before District Judge James Dixon in Hazle Township.
