A former apartment building at 599 Main St. in Edwardsville was razed this week as part of a borough initiative to purchase and tear down blighted properties. Borough Councilman Dave Stochla said the borough spent $25,000 to buy the vacant building and is using Community Development Block Grant money to raze the structure and clear the lot in hopes of selling it to a developer.
