LANSING, Iowa (AP) — A northeast Iowa town will lose dozens of jobs with the closing of a button company facility.

Workers were told Wednesday that the Blumenthal Lansing Co. facility in Lansing would be closing in phases that will be completed by mid-July.

Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania-based CSS Industries announced in February that it had completed acquisition of Blumenthal Lansing. A CSS representative didn’t immediately return a call Friday from The Associated Press.

Lansing Mayor Mike Brennan says the company employs about 70 people there. Brennan says he was told the company was closing the Lansing operation because better access to major highways was needed.
