You will have to excuse me if my afternoon update seems a bit brief today.
It’s just me and our good friend from the Weekender, Sara Pokorny, on the desk tonight, so I’m in a bit of a hurry. (You remember Sara, she’s the one everyone is suppose to be emailing updates on Breaking Bad. Good episode last night, by the way, but I hate seeing Saul Goodman getting roughed up.)
Don’t worry though, we will have plenty of stories for you on the web today and in tomorrow’s edition of the paper.
Let’s start with an update on the shooting of two young children at Sherman Hills apartment complex on Saturday. Staff writer Ed Lewis already has a story on the site about search warrants issued in the case. According to Lewis’ story, the warrant appears to suggest the father was upset that two men were inside the mother’s apartment.
Ed also has a story already on the web about the police seizing 66 heroin packets, pill tablets, marijuana and contraband inside a South Welles Street house where a 10-year-old child resided with her mother.
Controversial Wilkes-Barre tow truck operator Leo Glodzik is in court today for a preliminary hearing on charges he stole money from a vehicle he towed. Staff writer Sheena Delazio will have the story.
Moving away from the shootings, drugs and crime, correspondent Brad Patton has a review of last night’s Jason Aldean concert on Montage Mountain. Should I know who this person is? (Aldean, not Brad. Brad’s a great guy with an encyclopedic knowledge of all kinds of music.)
In sports, sports writer Paul Sokoloski will check in with the first Times Leader athlete of the week of the fall. This week’s athlete is … Not going to tell you. You will just have to wait for tomorrow’s paper.
Sports writer Dave Rosengrant will have a preview of the Wilkes University football team.
And if Sara doesn’t make me do too much work tonight, I will have a blog post about how former Penn Staters faired over the weekend in the NFL. It’s a big week for those trying to find homes on NFL rosters, which need to be cut to 75 this week.
Well, that’s it for today.
