HANOVER TWP. - Township police arrested Mendez Collier, 34, of Plymouth, on charges he provided false information on a gun purchase application.

Police allege Collier went to Nimrod Haven Sporting Goods on the Sans Souci Parkway on June 6 and completed and signed forms by the state police and Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms while attempting to purchase a handgun. An instant check system showed Collier was not able to purchase or own a firearm and was denied the purchase, police said.

Police allege Collier was not truthful when answering several questions on the state police and ATF forms.

Collier was arraigned today by District Judge Joseph Halesey on charges of sale or transfer of firearms and unsworn falsification to authorities. He was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.
