BUTLER TWP. - State police at Hazleton said a man from Oklahoma was killed when he lost control of his vehicle on Interstate 80 Wednesday morning.

Michael Ray Mitchell, 34, of Tulsa, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Luzerne County Coroner’s Office.

State police said Mitchell, driving a 2009 Honda Civic, was traveling east on Interstate 80 and drifted off the highway into the median striking two trees just before 6 a.m.

The coroner’s office determined Mitchell died from multiple traumatic injuries. The cause of death was ruled accidental, state police said.
