    Tillie Wartella, 87, of Jackson Street, Edwardsville, died Saturday
afternoon at homeBorn in Larksville, Jan. 25, 1906, she was the daughter of
the late Humphery cq and Anna Linso Lukachik. She was educated in Larksville
schools. She and her husband, the late Stephen Sr., were married for 62 years,
and operated Wartella’s Market, Edwardsville. She was a member of St. John the
Baptist Russian Orthodox Church, Edwardsville. She was past-president of the
Edwardsville Branch of the Nesbitt Hospital Auxiliary, as well as the
Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Auxiliary. For many years, she was president of
the Ladies Aid Society of St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Church.
   
She was also preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
   
Surviving are children, Dr. Stephen Jr., Kingston; Miss Margaret Wartella,
with whom she resided; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters,
Mrs. Nancy Yandt, Kenosha, Wis.; Mrs. Elizabeth Dougherty, Glen Ridge, N.J.;
Mrs. Daria Monik, Lansing, Ill.; Mrs. Nadia Souchik, Kenosha, Wis.; several
nieces and nephews.
   
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from the Edwards and Russin
Funeral Home, 717 Main St., Edwardsville, with Requiem Services at 10 a.m. in
St. John the Baptist Church, with the Rev. Emilian Hutnyan, pastor,
officiating.
   
Interment will be in Eastern Orthodox Lawn of Fern Knoll Burial Park,
Dallas.
   
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
   
Parastas services will be 8 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Hutnyan officiating.

Church, 93 Zerbey Ave., Edwardsville, 18704.
