WILKES-BARRE — An autopsy is scheduled today for a man who suffered a gunshot wound to his head as investigators continue to search for a person of interest in the case.
Luzerne County Acting Coroner William Lisman said Christopher Narainasami, age unknown, died at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township on Saturday. He was pronounced dead at 2:09 p.m.
The autopsy is scheduled to take place at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Another man whose name was not released suffered a gunshot wound to his hip. He was treated and released from Geisinger Wyoming Valley on Friday.
Narainasami and the other victim were shot in the Boulevard Townhomes apartment complex along South Welles Street just before 1 a.m. Friday.
City police said they are searching for Jordan Stevens, 27, as a person of interest in the shooting. Stevens is known to frequent the Brownsville area of Brooklyn, N.Y., police said, and is described as a light-skinned black male, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 170 pounds. He has short hair and brown eyes.
Stevens was last seen wearing a light-colored T-shirt, shorts and black or dark-colored footwear. He has a grim reaper tattoo on his right arm from the elbow to wrist and another tattoo with the initials “J.T.” on his right wrist.
Police said surveillance footage shows three men walking past the shooter. Without provocation, the shooter turned and discharged several rounds.
Police said in a news release that the investigation does not reveal any particular motive for the shooting.
Stevens is wanted by the state Department of Parole and is believed to be armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Stevens is asked to call Wilkes-Barre police at 208-4200 or 911.
The death of Narainasama is the city’s eighth homicide victim due to gunfire this year.
