Upper Valley Eye
   
Bank meets Thursday
   
The next meeting of the Upper Valley Eye Bank will be conducted at 7:30
p.m. Thursday at the LaRosa Restaurant, Wyoming Avenue, Exeter. Host Club is
the Greater Pittston Lioness. Ursula Burke is president. Speaker for the
meeting is Cathy Salulski, coordinator for Highway Safety Program.
   
Vice President Joe Sakadowski will be accepting used eye glasses. Also,
reservations for the combined Upper and Lower Valley Eye Banks dinner meeting
may be made with Lion Jasper Reggie. The affair will be held on April 3 at the
Plains American Legion. Cost is $10.

Taxpayers announce next session
   
The Lake Lehman School District Taxpayers Association will meet at 7:30
p.m. Thursday at the Lehman Township Municipal Building.

PTA meeting set for
   
Thursday evening
   
The Greater Nanticoke Area Middle School PTA will gather at 7 p.m. Thursday
in the high school cafeteria with Marlene Wylie presiding. A nominating
committee will be formed for election of officers.
   
Lower Eye Bank will meet Thursday
   
The next Lower Wyoming Valley Eye Bank meeting will be held at 7 p.m.
Thursday at Centre Inn, Nanticoke.
   
Host club will be Twin Boro Lions Club.
   
PTSA to gather
   
The Nanticoke High School PTSA will gather at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the
cafeteria.
   
Marge Womelsdorf will preside.
   
Booster Club’s board of directors to meet
   
The Nanticoke Area Basketball Booster Club Inc. will hold its board of
directors meeting at 6:30 p.m. tonight at St. Mary’s Church Hall, Hanover
Street, Nanticoke.

The Newport Township American Legion Auxiliary Post 0539 will meet at 6
p.m. Thursday at the Italian American Sporting Club, Glen Lyon.

The Pittston Area Taxpayers Association will gather at 7:30 p.m. Thursday

Patrons meeting
   
Past Matrons, Past Patrons Association of Wyoming Valley will meet at 6:30
p.m. Thursday at Neddoff’s Restaurant.
   
Wilkes-Barre Chapter #90 will be hostess with Marie Harding as chairperson.
Reservations are to be made with each chapter representative. Marie Conaty,
president, will preside.
   
Board meetings scheduled Thursday
   
The regular monthly meetings of the board of directors of the City of
Wilkes-Barre Industrial Development Authority and the Wilkes-Barre Economic
Development Corporation will begin at 5 p.m. on Thursday. The meetings will be
held in the offices of the Authority, 1203 PNC Bank Building, 69 Public
Square, Wilkes-Barre.
   
PWP to install officers Saturday
   
The Greater Wilkes-Barre Chapter, Parents Without Partners Inc., will hold
its Installation of Officers Dinner Dance on Saturday, March 8, at the Elks
Lodge. Installation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. with dancing from 8 to 11

Other events scheduled are Breakfast Club, 10:30 a.m. March 9 at Mark II
Restaurant, Edwardsville and board meeting at 8 p.m. March 12, at the American

Speaker for Lenten service announced
   
The Rev. Mr. Joseph Devizia, a deacon of the Diocese of Scranton, assigned
to St. John’s Church and executive director of the Children Service Center,
will be speaker for the Lenten service tonight at St. Aloysius Church,
Wilkes-Barre. The service will begin at 7:30 p.m.
   
Topic of the lecture will be “Marriage and Family Life.”
   
WYOMING AREA
   
Parents of seniors will meet tonight
   
The next meeting of the parents of the Wyoming Area 1997 graduating class
will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at the Wyoming Area Secondary Center, room 133.
   
Raffle ticket returns may be brought to the meeting. The drawing will be
held at the conclusion of the session.
   
Work session set
   
Wyoming Borough Council will hold their monthly work session at 7:30 p.m.
tonight in Council Chambers.
   
The public is invited to attend.
   
Newspapers will collected Friday from residents displaying a current 1997
sticker.
   
Band sponsors to discuss trip
   
There will be a meeting of the Wyoming Area Band Sponsors at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday in the band room of the Secondary Center, Exeter.
   
Sponsor President Joseph Sherisky will preside. Details of the band trip to
Florida will be discussed.
