    Frank P. Kovach Sr., 78, of Timber Ridge, Southington, Conn., formerly of
   
Luzerne, died Thursday in Hartford, ConnBorn Sept. 4, 1918, in
Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late John and Mary Kovach.
   
He lived in Luzerne before moving to Connecticut in 1946.
   
He attended the University of Pennsylvania, Wilkes-Barre, and served as a
captain with the U.S. Army during World War II.
   
Before retiring in 1984, he was head of the Corporate Data Center at
Stanley Works, New Britain, Conn., for 37 years.
   
He was a member of the First Church of Christ, Congregational, the New
Britain YMCA, and a former member of the Shuttle Meadow Country Club, all of
New Britain.
   
Surviving are his wife, Louise (Williford) Kovach; a son, F. Paul Kovach
Jr., Houston, Texas; sisters, Margaret Kovach and Catherine Kovach, both of
Luzerne; two grandchildren.
   
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the First Church of Christ,
Congregational, 830 Corbin Ave., New Britain, Conn., 06051.
   
There will be no calling hours.
   
Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington, Conn.
   
Memorial donations may be made to the church.
