PLAINS SPORTS HALL OF FAME
The Plains Sports Hall of Fame seeks names of former athletes for
consideration for induction.
   
Send the name, address and as much biographical information concerning the
nominee to Plains Sports Hall of Fame Association, P.O. Box 1625, Plains, PA
18705. Deadline for nominations is Aug. 1.The King’s College women’s
volleyball team has added Faith O’Dell, a former Wyoming Valley Conference
standout at Lake-Lehman High School, to the team.
   
A 5-foot-9 outside hitter, O’Dell will join the lady Monarchs as a transfer
from Division II Clarion University. At Lake-Lehman, she was an honorable
mention all-state selection as a senior. She also was a two-time Wyoming
Valley Conference first-team selection as a junior and senior.
   
As a freshman at Clarion last season, O’Dell played in 70 games,
registering 52 kills, 89 digs, 35 total blocks and 19 assists.
   
TRIPLE-A BASEBALL
The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons have announced the first Xerox Fantasy
Camp for July 27-30 at the Lackawanna County Stadium.
   
Coaches include former Philadelphia Phillies World Series stars Tug McGraw,
Greg Luzinski, George Vukovich and Dickie Noles and former Yankees and Red Sox
pitcher Luis Tiant.
   
Participants will receive instruction, take batting practice and play games
all weekend at Lackawanna County Stadium. Each participant will receive a Red
Barons uniform, with name and number, use of the clubhouse and batting cages.
   
On July 27, the ex-major leaguers will participate in autograph night at
the stadium before the Red Barons game with the Columbus Clippers. Camp begins
July 28 with a batting clinic followed by games under the lights. On Saturday
and Sunday, three teams will rotate on the field. The team not playing will
have use of the batting cage and receive individual pitching instruction.
   
Cost of the camp is $995 and includes the uniform, continental breakfasts
in the clubhouse, lunches at the stadium and the awards party. Registration is
