DENNISON TWP. – A 15-year-old boy was charged with attempted rape for
allegedly luring a 10-year-old boy into the woods at Camp Kresge and trying to
sexually assault the boy, police said.
Police said the two were at the camp on state Route 437 on Friday. At 2
p.m., the 15-year-old led the younger boy into a wooded area where he
attempted to commit the act. The victim resisted and told police the act was
not completed, police said.
The 15-year-old boy has been petitioned to Luzerne County Juvenile Court on
charges of criminal attempt to commit rape, involuntary deviate sexual
intercourse and sexual assault, indecent assault, unlawful contact with
minors, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children.
He was taken to the Luzerne County Juvenile Detention Center on Sunday,
police said.
