SUANN BIELECKI
AROUND ASHLEY

Some of the special days in September include Labor Day which we
celebrated this week, Grandparents Day on Sept. 10, and the first day of
autumn is Sept. 22. Rosh Hashanah begins on Sept. 29.

The Ashley Borough secretary’s office will be closed this week and will
reopen at 8 a.m. on Sept. 11. Residents are reminded that all payments can be
dropped off in the payment box on the first floor of the municipal building.
Joe Yedlock, president of Ashley Council, annouced that residents who have
registered for the bulk item collection will be receiving information in the
mail next week regarding the collection schedule and payment.

Warrior Run Tax Collector Mary Ann Brodginski would like to remind all
borough residents that Sept. 16 is the end of the rebate period for 2000
school taxes. Collection hours are 2 to 4 p.m. Monday and Wednesday and 6 to 8
p.m. Tuesday or by appointment. For more information, call 825-4043.

Ambulance fund drive

The Ashley Ambulance Association is appealing to residents to respond.

As the fund drive nears its end, only 510 families have responded, along
with 15 businesses and clubs. That’s less than one half of all families in
Ashley.

The association raised the doantion fee to $10 per family and $5 per
individual.

Your donation could save you the health insurance deductible on your policy
or even hundreds of dollars if you don’t have health coverage.

For more information, call Ed Holland Jr. at 829-5702.
