Bishop O’Reilly has a monstrous task in tonight’s Eastern Conference
Division I championship game – stopping Frankenstein.

Pottsville Nativity running back Joe Frankenstein, that is.
The Queensmen (6-5) will see if they can accomplish that goal when they
travel to Nativity (8-3) for a 7 p.m. game.

Frankenstein and Rob Herndon combined to rush for 410 yards last week in a
43-26 victory over Upper Dauphin. The victory was the Hilltoppers’ first
postseason victory in 11 years. O’Reilly enters off a 28-0 victory over Muncy
in which the Queensmen gained 350 yards.

Here’s a look at the other E.C. championship games.

Scranton Prep (7-4) at Central Columbia (6-5), 7 p.m. today: Prep disposed
of GAR for a second time this season, 20-7, last Friday in the Division II
semifinals. The Cavaliers used two touchdown runs by Greg Petrosky and a
defense that held GAR’s ground game to 3.2 yards per carry.

Central upset Wilson 34-8 as Kyle Delvin passed for 174 yards and two
touchdowns and Josh Prosceno increased his season total of rushing yards to
more than 1,200.

Allentown Central Catholic (5-6) at Dallas (6-4), 10 a.m. tomorrow: Dallas
snapped a three-game losing streak by overwhelming North Penn 49-6 in a
Division III semifinal game. The Mountaineers had their way with the
undersized Panthers, piling up 446 yards.

Central Catholic got into a 46-36 shootout with Wallenpaupack in its
semifinal game. The Vikings scored 14 points in the final 1:53 to win after
blowing a 19-0 first-quarter lead.

Pleasant Valley (7-4) at Abington Heights (8-3), 1 p.m. tomorrow: While
O’Reilly attempts to stop a single monster, Abington has to worry about a
three-headed one in the Division IV game.

Pleasant Valley will attack with a three-pronged rushing attack of Matt
Borger, Anthony Somerville and Maurice Stallings. The three played a big part
in a 38-15 victory over Bethlehem Freedom.

Abington struggled to get its running game going in a 29-21 victory against
Pottsville, but three touchdown passes by Bill Pasqualichio proved to be the
difference.
