WILKES-BARRE — A Park Avenue man was slapped with a second set of felony sex abuse charges Tuesday after he was charged Oct. 29 for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl.
Gary L. Machinshok, 28, allegedly had put his hands on a 12-year-old girl and tried to coerce her to be intimate with him between August last year and June of this year, according criminal charges filed Tuesday before District Judge Richard Cronauer.
The girl told a Luzerne County Children and Youth Services worker that Machinshok had tried several times to lay with her on the couch.
While he pretended to sleep, he touched her inappropriately, police said the girl told them. The girl said she pulled away each time, police said.
Machinshok allegedly often walked around the house nude and other times tried peeking behind the shower curtain while the victim was bathing, she told police.
Machinshok told the girl he would show her “anything” if she wanted, the girl said. She told the investigator his offer made her feel “icky,” police said.
Machinshok is charged with five felony counts, including indecent assault of someone younger than 13, endangering a child’s welfare and corruption of minors.
He faces seven felony assault counts and a trio of misdemeanor indecent assault counts from the October arrest.
In the October case, police allege Machinshok raped a girl starting when she was 14 years old and continued until she turned 15.
This first victim to speak up had told a Children and Youth worker in October that Machinshok had forced her to have sex with him. He threatened that if she did not comply, he would do it with her siblings.
He also said she would never see her mother again.
The incidents occurred multiple times in 2012 and 2013, police said.
In default of bail money, $100,000 for the October charges, Machinshok is already in jail in awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for today. That hearing was continued in light of the new charges.
District court employees could not confirm a new hearing date by the end of the day Tuesday.
