HANOVER TWP. — Brian Ginocchetti and the Bishop Hoban 200-yard medley
relay team combined to set three records Tuesday as the Argents stroked past
Hanover Area, 115-71 in a Wyoming Valley Conference swim meet.

In addition, Bishop Hoban (8-1) showed its power and depth by registering
one-two-three finishes in the 100 and 200 freestyle.
“Most of our tough meets are behind us,” Bishop Hoban coach Bill Milz said.
“We’re swimming more relaxed now. We were mentally ready to swim fast today.

“We’ve been a little week in sprints,” he added. “Today we looked better.”

In diving, Ginocchetti set the Hanover pool record and Bishop Hoban school
record in his best performance of the season, a 277.20 on six dives. His best
effort was an inward 1 somersault from a pike position with a degree of
difficulty of 2.4. It received an 8, 7 and 7 out of a possible 10 from the
judges.

The Argents’ 200 medley relay team of Mike Davis, Andy Milz, Mike Eustice
and Rob Lawrence combined to set a pool record of 1:45.70

Bishop Hoban swimmers, however, were not the only ones to set records at
the meet.

Hanover’s Eric Sweeney set a pool and school record of 54.95 in the 100
butterfly, when he edged out Hoban’s Mike Davis on the final turn.

“Eric’s been working hard for that race, Davis knocked him out of districts
last year, and (Eric) was determined to turn the tables,” Hanover coach Terry
Schnee said.

“Lots of our kids swam hard today, and had personal bests, which was our
goal going into the meet,” he added.

Included among those personal bests for Hanover (6-3) was Luke Colleran’s
202.05 diving total.

“Having a class diver as Brian out there brought the best out of Luke,”
Schnee said.
