DALLAS — Dallas advanced to the semifinals in the District 2 Class 2A girls tennis tournament on Friday afternoon with a 3-2 victory over Holy Redeemer.

Grace Schaub and Emily Kabalka earned singles victories for Dallas while the team of Lauren Butruce and Maddie Ross earned the win in doubles.

Holy Redeemer was efforted by a singles win from Megan McGraw and a doubles win from the team of Annie Cosgrove and Danielle Merchese.

Dallas will play Wyoming Seminary at Kirby Park on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m.


Coughlin 2, Wyoming Valley West 1

Down 1-0 after the first half the Crusaders rallied behind two assists from Emma Sukowski to earn the win.

Nora Fazzi and Mary Tona had one score each for Coughlin.

The Spartans’ effort was led by one goal from Michaela Shonk.

Pittston Area 5, Nanticoke 1

After a 1-1 tie in the first half the Patriots scored four straight goals to pick up the win.

Allie Barber and Katelyn Pugliese had one goal and one assist each for Pittston Area.

The Trojans were led by one score from Kayla Ausiero


Manhattanville 4, King’s 3

Visiting Manhattanville posted a victory over King’s in a Freedom Conference matchup.

The Lady Monarch’s were led by two scores from Courtney Schaffer and one goal from Kim Howanitz.
