Lion District Governor Andy Piskel was the guest of honor at the December meeting of the Dupont Lions Club. The governor visits each of the Lions Clubs within the District to provide the State of the Union of both local and international Lions Clubs.
Dupont Lion President Dan Lello presented District Governor Piskel with the club’s annual fair share which helps funds the many projects such as the local eye bank organizations within the district. Also, new Lion Club member Alex Kokura was installed by Governor Piskel.
VFW Post 4909 Ladies Auxiliary President Ellen Healey stopped by to present the auxiliary’s annual Christmas donation to the Dupont Lions Club. The Ladies Auxiliary raises funds throughout the year and donates to community clubs.
Membership Chairman Chris Kalmanowicz spoke to the group about the importance of membership growth and asked current members to reach out to the community and promote the club and recruit new members. Pittston Area Leo Club members attended this monthly meeting and were given an update by Governor Piskel about the upcoming Leo Rally at the PA Lions Beacon Lodge Camp in April.
The next meeting of the Dupont Lions will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13 at the VFW Post 4909.
