Members of Leadership Wilkes-Barre’s Swings and Things Committee have joined forces with the Wyoming Area Kiwanis Club to make upgrades for the Mckenna’s Place Playground off Schooley Street in Exeter. Plans call for the installation of a Sensory Garden, paved walkways and a shade pavilion at the handicapped accessible park.
Leadership Committee member Jim Andruskiewicz explained the Committee is a part of the Leadership Class of 2014 and undertook the project of upgrading the park after hearing from Kiwanian Kate Mangan of Gober’s Deco Lounge. A fundraising gala will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Ole Tyme Charlie’s in Plains. The event will include food and beverages, entertainment by three bands and Emcee Fast Freddy of KRZ as DJ.
The event will run from 4 to 8 p.m. Basket Raffles, a fun photo booth and other entertainment will also be available. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by contacting Jim at 570-793-5962 or Jenn at 570-550-1654, at the Deco Lounge in Exeter or from members of Leadership Wilkes-Barre.
