The next Cosmopolitan Seniors meeting will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4 in St. Anthony’s Center. Hostesses are Theresa Bekanich, Bernadine Bednar, Mary Ann Markowski, Cheryl Pipher and Frances Poluske.


Thirty-five members braved the frigid temps to attended the previous meeting. Vice President Ron McAdarra led the group in prayer and song. The group decided to have a pizza party in conjunction with Valentine’s Day during the second meeting in February.


Dues will be collected after the business meeting. Bingo was played with Marie Cheskiewicz winning the special game and Mary Ann Markowski being the overall winner. The 50/50 winners were Amy Alpaugh, Marie Cheskiewicz, Edith Jones, Sharon McAdarra, and Terri Mislan.


The club will celebrate its 39-year Anniversary in May. Membership is open to adults 50 years of age and older, regardless of residency or religious affiliation.


A trip to Sands Casino is planned for Thursday, Feb. 13. Non-members may attend. Pick ups are in Exeter and Pittston. Call Johanna at 570-665-2720 for information.


Falls Center


The Falls Active Center, for anyone 50 and older, is located on Route 92 and is open from 9 a.m.t o 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. To join the center for a hot meal at noon for a suggested donation of $2 for those 60 and older or $3 under 60, call Twila at 570-388-2623 by 12:30 p.m. the day before.


The center invites anyone 50 and older to the following activities:


Monday: 10-11:30 a.m. Wii bowling competition with Tunkhannock Center (alternating sites); 1-2 p.m. Crocheting Club (all levels welcome).


Tuesday: Brain Games at lunch.


Wednesday: 10-10:45 a.m. walking group (weather permitting).


Thursday: 1-2 p.m. Bingo (6 players needed); Nutrition talks at lunch.


Fridays:10:00 A.M.-12 noon, Geocaching activity,(weather permitting).


A polish lunch and presentation by Elizabeth Rutkowski on” Poland and Polish traditions” will be on Wednesday, Jan. 29.


The Book Club will meet from 12:45 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4 to discuss “Bad Monkey” by Carl Hiaasen.


Karnen Bracey from Penn State Cooperative Extension will offer a class on “Dining with Diabetes” from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 6, 13, 20 and 27. The class will offer food tastings, physical activity, ideas to take home, and discussions regarding important information to help you manage your Diabetes. Lab tests will be offered to measure A1c.
