PLAINS TWP. — A man is facing charges after police found what appeared to be a mobile methamphetamine lab in a vehicle inside his vehicle.

Officers were dispatched to check on Bradley Evanitus, 32, of Shickshinny, who was reportedly in distress near his car on Route 115 at 8:54 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said Evanitus appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance, and that officers saw drug paraphernalia in his vehicle.

Officers and a K-9 unit from the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department assisted and reportedly found a mobile meth lab inside the vehicle.

Clandestine lab technicians from Pennsylvania State Police were then called to the scene.

Evanitus is charged with risking a catastrophe, manufacturing a controlled substance, operating a meth lab, and possessing/transporting liquefied ammonia gas.

He was arraigned on his charges before District Judge Joseph Carmody on Wednesday, and was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Evanitus is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Joseph Spagnuolo on June 27.
