Police: Men were shooting blank rounds with AR-15 style rifle

WILKES-BARRE — Two men are facing charges after they were allegedly found shooting blank rounds with a firearm.

Officers responded to a report of two men discharging a rifle in the backyard of a residence on South Hancock Street at 11:37 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers arrived and encountered Jeffery William Powell, 24, and Zachary George Litras, 27. Powell and Litras were allegedly seen by officers shooting an AR-15 style rifle.

Both men were detained, and officers determined they were shooting blank ammunition.

Powell and Litras were taken into custody and charged with recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct, and public intoxication.
