Police: Shots fired into a Wilkes-Barre residence early Friday morning

WILKES-BARRE — Shots were fired into a residence with several people inside, according to police.

Officers responded to a residence on East Northampton Street at 1:53 a.m. Friday for a report of multiple gunshots fired into a the residence. A total of four people, including an infant, were in the house at the time of the shooting, according to police.

One of the residents reported to police that he and his girlfriend were making their way upstairs to bed when they heard the shots being fired.

Police said one bullet was found lodged into the ceiling, and another fell to the floor after also seemingly hitting the ceiling. Police also found a third bullet that was lodged into the wooden frame around a window.

A total of nine spent casings were recovered outside of the residence, according to police. No injuries were reported.

Police continue to investigate the shooting.
