WILKES-BARRE — A man was stabbed in the back outside a bar and a woman was slashed with a razor blade during two separate incidents in the city on Thanksgiving Day.

The stabbing occurred just before 2:30 a.m. in the vicinity of 215 S. Main St. after a fight outside a bar that police did not name.

“A male and female were observed in a physical altercation, which led to numerous individuals engaging in the fight,” police wrote in a report.

James Kearns, 26, no address listed, allegedly stabbed a 23-year-old man several times in the lower back after the victim tried to intervene in the fight, according to authorities.

Kearns was identified by witnesses, police say, as well as via surveillance video. But he fled the scene and a warrant was requested for his arrest, the report states.

As for the stabbing victim, he was taken to a hospital for treatment.

WNEP was reporting the surveillance video of the fight was from the nearby Ali Baba Lounge, but the fight did not involve Ali Baba.

At the scene, Timothy Kvirchishvili, 19, no address listed, was cited with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. Police say he walked under yellow police tape and continually tried to enter the area where officers were investigating. He was released to a “responsible party” after being cited.

The holiday trouble continued Thanksgiving afternoon on Regent Street.

About 2:20 p.m., Alejandro James Loria, 27, allegedly slashed a 26-year-old Wilkes-Barre woman with a razor blade during a domestic dispute.

Loria, of Old Bridge Township, New Jersey, fled before officers could get to the address, they noted. They also said the woman he slashed has a protection-from-abuse order against him, which forbids him from having contact with the woman.

She was taken to local medical facility for treatment of her injuries.

Loria, meanwhile, is charged with simple assault, reckless endangerment, harassment, and contempt for allegedly violating the court-issued PFA.
