HAZLETON — City police confiscated a stolen firearm and a man is in custody after a report of shots being fired early Friday morning, according to a police report:

According to the report:

Officers responded to a report of shots being fired in the area of 7th Street and Emerald Court at 12:53 a.m. The officers were told that the suspects ran behind a building on Emerald Court.

Officers observed two makes in that area — Angel Perez, 19, and a 17-year old juvenile. A search of Perez turned up a Sig Sauer Model P238 .380 caliber handgun and two blue baggies of suspected cocaine.

A search of the juvenile turned up one bundle of heroin labeled “Street Fight.”

A record check revealed the gun was stolen from Salem Township.

Perez was taken into custody and charged with firearms not to be carried without a license, receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The juvenile was released to his mother. A juvenile petition will be filed.
