The Dupont Lions Club recently hosted Upper Valley Eye Bank at the VFW in Dupont. The Eye Bank routinely visits Lions Club within the district throughout the year to provide updates of the work and advancements of the Eye Bank.

Past Lion District Governor Eileen Yurish spoke about the significance of corneal donations and transplantation and how important it is to help educate the communities of the many benefits of helping people to again see the world.

Dominique DelPriore, vice-president of the Pittston Area Lions Club and eyeglass chairperson, spoke to the membership about the Leo’s Club commitment to the collection of eyeglasses. The club collected glasses at the high school but now has expanded its reach to all four Pittston Area School locations and has recently partnered with Wyoming Area Catholic Elementary School in Exeter. DelPriore presented the Eye Bank with the club’s collection of used eye wear from all the schools.

The Avoca Lions will host the next meeting with the Upper Valley Eye Bank at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5 at the VFW Post, Main St., Avoca. For more information call Marina 570-709-0907 or Nancy at 570-655-0345.
