WHAT ABOUT AN update on the Woodall brothers. I would appreciate it.

EDITOR’S NOTE: James and Jason Woodall will leave Aug. 5 to compete in the
FILA Junior World Championship in Uzbekistan. The competition runs from Aug. 9
to Aug. 13.
I THINK YOUR lack of coverage of local golf tournaments in this area is a
disgrace. The Potentate tournament at Irem Temple, one of the three largest,
is taking place this weekend. There is no coverage whatsoever by your paper.
There are many local golfers who reached for your sports page this morning and
were very disappointed.

EDITOR’S NOTE: A short story about the Potentate Golf Tournament and a list
of winners appeared on Page 3D Monday. Two photos and a copy block, along with
results appeared in Sunday’s paper. Information about other local tournaments
appear each Sunday under golf notes.

I WAS WONDERING if Mark Dudeck was still doing the picks for Pocono Downs
because I found him to be very knowledgeable about the horse racing.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Mark’s column will return on Saturday, Aug. 4.

TO CLEAR UP a call that I made to the paper the other day, when I mentioned
that three Phillies should be gone and replaced. I did not refer to Scott
Rolen, the third player in addition to Burrell and Estrada is hot dog Rollins,
the shortstop.

IF TIGER WOODS wants to be a good golfer long term, he is going to have to
take a good look at his driving accuracy which is extremely poor. Driving the
ball long means nothing if you can’t find the fairway.

I SEE THAT there is a meeting of the Luzerne County Sports Hall of Fame. I
attended last year’s banquet and I was so impressed with what they do for
local athletes I joined the organization. I am asking now that other men and
women in the area also join to help recognize our past great athletes. Come to
Thursday’s meeting.

THIS IS GREAT, Junior is just like his dad, the only way he can win a race
is if he cheats, like at Daytona, or when his buddy crashes and causes the
leader to fall back, like at Pocono. The apple don’t fall too far from the
trees.

ALL THIS psych about Ted Tryba, in a recent issue of Northeast Golfer shows
that Ted Tryba’s career money winnings is $3,684,742. Now as for some of his
critics, three generations of their families won’t make that much.

I WAS READING in the paper today about Jimmy Spencer and his crying about
the Pocono speedway and his performance. He did not like the track. I don’t
think it’s the track, I think it’s the driver. I think he ought to give up
driving already because he can’t do anything. I think it’s the rookies that
are getting to him, all the rookies are showing him up and he can’t do
anything. So, don’t blame the track blame the driver.
