King’s holds off late rally

SELINSGROVE — Kyle Hammonds scored 10 of his 12 points in the second half as the King’s College men’s basketball team held off a late run to hold on to a 54-53 victory over Trinity College of Connecticut in the opening round of the Pepsi/Weis Markets Tip-Off Tournament on Friday night at Susquehanna University.

Joe Caffrey followed with 11 points and six assists, while Tim O’Shea contributed eight points and five boards.

Derek Wilkins tallied eight points, while Pat O’Donnell chipped in with six points and four boards.


Misericordia 80, PSU Wilkes-Barre 35

Alivia Womelsdorf led four players in double figures as Misericordia beat Penn State Wilkes-Barre.

Womelsdorf had 12 points, while Shannon Croasdale, Hannah Seely and Lauren Smicherko all added 10 points.


Wilkes 33, Elizabethtown 3

Wilkes collected points in nine of 10 bouts on way to a victory over No. 12 Elizabethtown.

Guesseppe Rea, Myzar Mendoza, Tyler Lauchaire, Kyle Diesel, Levi Veppert, Eric Bach and Michael Shannon each posted wins.
