The Wyoming Area baseball team will hold sign-ups from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 in the gym lobby of the Secondary Center. All players grades 7 through 12 are invited to sign up.
The Avoca/Dupont Little League will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. today, Dec. 8 at the Avoca borough building.
The Elm St. Sportsmen’s Club will meet at 7 p.m. tonight, Dec. 8 at the Polish American Citizens Club, Dupont. Nomination of Officers will be held. John Lizak will preside.
Open skate at
Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza will open its doors for public ice skating from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10 in support of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program.
Anyone bringing an unwrapped toy or making a $5 contribution to Toys for Tots is permitted to skate. This is the only day throughout the year that the public is allowed to skate on the ice at Mohegan Sun Arena, home to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Refreshments will be available for purchase at arena concessions stands. Patrons must bring their own skates. Mohegan Sun Arena will not have skates on site for rent and all guests that will be going on to the ice will need to be wearing skates.
Pittston Area High School Football Booster Club will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17 in the high school cafeteria. The banquet, scheduled for Jan. 26, will be discussed. 2014 season nominations will occur at this time.
Pens and Pins
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will host their annual charity bowling tournament from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15 at Chacko’s Family Bowling Center in Wilkes-Barre. Fans will rub elbows with their favorite professional hockey players and coaches, with each team of four fans being captained by a WBS Penguins player or coach.
Guests at the Fourth Annual Pens and Pins Charity Bowling Tournament will receive two rounds of bowling, free shoe rental, pizza and soda and a commemorative 2013 “Pens & Pins” T-shirt. Registration fee is $50 per person or $200 for a team of fans with all proceeds benefitting Allied Services. Fans can register by calling the Penguins at 570-208-PENS.

Pittston Ski Club
The Pittston Ski Club invites children of the Greater Pittston Area to ski with it. Club members ski from noon to 10 p.m. every Saturday.
