WILKES-BARRE — Nanticoke earned an upset over Meyers with a 87-83 victory Monday in Wyoming Valley Conference Division 3 girls swimming at Kistler Pool.


A one-two finish by Megan Matthews and Maddy O’Donahue in the 50 free pulled the Trojans ahead.


Caylyn Hall (200 free), Lily Young (100 free) and Kelly Gruber (100 breast) all earned firsts for Nanticoke.


Meyers’ Julia Kerr (100 fly, 500 free) and Sydney Rentsch (200 IM, 100 back) were multiple event winners.


COLLEGE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL


Marywood 77, King’s 67


Visiting Marywood torched the nets to build a 50-28 halftime lead and held off a second-half rally by King’s.


Two double-doubles paced the Monarchs (4-8). Marissa Manning led with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Jennifer Fabian scored 15 points and 12 rebounds.


Meyers grad Maddie Lavery scored eight points and five rebounds for the Pacers.


Juniata 62, Wilkes 52


Elena Stambone led the Wilkes attack with a team-high 16 points on 6-for-21 shooting. She now stands just 34 points away from the 1,000-point mark for her career.


Jamie Campbell was the only other Lady Colonel in double figures finishing with a career-high 10 points behind two treys. Ellen Rich was solid in the post posting a game-high 14 boards and four blocks.


COLLEGE MEN’S BASKETBALL


King’s 96, Muhlenberg 82


The Monarchs came back from seven down with 15 minutes to play to defeat the Mules.


Kyle Hammonds led four King’s players in double figures. He totaled 32 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the floor and a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line. He also grabbed seven boards and dished out four helpers.


Coughlin grad Joe Caffrey tallied 19 points. Dan Rutecki tallied 14 points, 10 from the charity stripe, as well as six rebounds. Coughlin alum Nate Oliver also picked up 14 points.
