Four football players who earned all-star honors while leading Old Forge to an unbeaten 2012 regular season will be on the County roster for the 79th Annual Dream Game, which will be played July 31 at Scranton Memorial Stadium.
Brenden Wahl, Michael Vieira, Anthony Piccolini and Anthony DeSando will represent the Blue Devils in the game.
Riverside’s Evan Prall will coach the county. Players from Old Forge, Riverside, Abington Heights, Lakeland, Valley View, Lackawanna Trail, Mid Valley, Western Wayne, Carbondale and Honesdale make up the County roster for the all-star game, featuring recent graduates from Lackawanna Football Conference schools.
The City has players from Scranton, Delaware Valley, Dunmore, Scranton Prep, West Scranton, North Pocono, Montrose, Wallenpaupack, Holy Cross and Susquehanna.
Former Wyoming Area quarterback Greg Dolhon, who coaches at North Pocono, will lead the City team.
The Scranton Lions Club sponsors the game. The current rosters, released last week by Lions Club official Nick Parise, reflect at least one set of changes based on availability of players following the original selections. Parise said the rosters will continue to go through adjustments.
Wahl took over as starting quarterback and led Old Forge to the LFC Division 4 title before suffering its only loss, 7-6, in the District 2 Class A championship game against eventual state finalist Dunmore. He was named Division 4 Offensive Player of the Year by www.northeastpafootball.com.
Vieira, a wide receiver and defensive back, was a two-way, first-team division all-star on the website’s all-star team. He joined Wahl and Piccolini, another wide receiver/defensive back, as offensive all-stars and DeSando, an end, as defensive all-stars.
