Lauren Cawley struck out nine batters and had two hits in a 10-3 win Friday evening, while Alexa McHugh and Bella Gorzkowski had two hits each to advance to the Section 5 championship gane.
Nella Bepsin had a triple and Julie Antonioucci had a double for Old Forge. DPT played Back Mountain Saturday afternoon for the Section 5 title.

Bailey Flacktish had five strikeouts and two hits in the Back Mountain victory of the winner’s bracket finals.
Mia Dixon, Peyton Ross, and Sam Kern all had two hits as well.
Bailey Moyack had two hits and scored two runs while Lauren Coley and Stella Gorzkowski each had one double.
Old Forge 2
Duryea/Pittston Twp. scored three runs in its first trip to the plate and kept adding on, defeating Old Forge 10-2 at Back Mountain Little League field Monday.
Alexa McHugh, Lauren Cawley and Isabella Gorzkowski, the 2-3-4 hitters, all scored in the first inning. McHugh and Kerry Shamnoski had hits, with Shamnoski’s resulting in an RBI. Morgan Mesaris also brought home a run with a groundout in the first inning.
Cawley was the winner in the circle with 10 strikeouts. She game up leadoff singles in the second and third innings, but then retired Old Forge in order.
After tacking on a run in the second, DPT tore open the game with three more runs in the fourth. Gorzkowski and Meghan Smith each had an RBI in the inning. Shamnoski added a sacrifice fly and Emily O’Brien had an RBI single in the sixth for DPT’s final runs.
Evan Freeman had the winning RBI single as Greater Wyoming Area defeated Kingston/Forty Fort 11-1 on Wendesda.
Stephanie Nowak pitched 10 strikeouts giving up only two hits while Ellie Glatz had two singles and one double.
Jessica Shaver had one double and Alanna Balbach had one single for Kingston/Forty Fort.
Back Mountain 0
Stephanie Nowak pitched a five-inning two-hitter and struck out 12 in the shutout win for Greater Wyoming Area.
She was supported at the plate by Nicole Silinski, Ellie Glatz and Lilly Harden, all collecting hits for the winners.
West Side 1
Karie Melberger struck out six to pick up the win for GWA Monday in four innings.
Greater Wyoming Area’s Nicole Silinskie and Kaitlyn Slusser had two hits each. Evan Freeman singled. Karlee Peters tabbed West Side’s lone hit.

Jenkins Twp. 1
Morgan Gayton threw out her 10th and 11th baserunners of the tournament and Jordan Pugh fanned 13 batters to knock Jenkins Twp. from the elimination bracket.
Gween Balavage had one RBI for Jenkins Twp. Bernadette Leiback went 1-for-2. Plains/N.W-Barre plays in the District 16 finals SUnday at Pittston Township against Duryea/Pittston Township.

Madyson Mathal pitched 18 strikeouts while giving up only three hits in the winner’s bracket.
Mathal, Hannah Waleski, Janelle Wilk and Megan Hopkins were the games leading hitters.
Kristen Roselle, Gwen Balavage and Meredith Purcell all had hits in the Jenkins Township loss.
Durya Pittston Township will play the winner of the Plains vs. Jenkins Township loser’s bracket game on today.

Isabella Latona scored the winning run on Meredith Purcell’s single as Jenkins Twp. beat Nanticoke Monday evening.
Bernadette Leiback pitched a complete game and struck out seven in four innings. Hits for Jenkins came from Gwen Balavage with a single and a triple. Purcell was 2-for-3 with a single and a double, Kristin Roselle drove in 2 runs with a double and Nina Tavaglione had a single. Every player for Jenkins scored.
Hits for Nanticoke came from Jenna Baron with a double and a triple and Emma Biniek had a single.
