The Greater Pittston area sent four teams to the District 2 doubles tennis tournament last week at Kirby Park.

The Wyoming Area duo of Julia Banas and Lauren Perry, who had a fine regular season for the Warriors, made it out of the first round with a win over Western Wayne’s Kellyn Kemmerer and Erica Sullivan. The score was tight. But the Warrior team made a strong second set for the 6-4, 6-2 win.

In the second round, Banas and Perry were pitted against the No. 5 seed team of Meghan McGraw and Emily Kabalka of Holy Redeemer. The Wyoming Area pair went on to suffer the loss, 6-1, 6-3.

Wyoming Area’s second doubles team of Julia Gober and Sam Williams fell to the team of Maddie Rose and Lauren Butruce of Dallas, 6-3, 6-1.
