HAWLEY- PIttston Area jumped out to a 14-0 halftime lead, and Dale Klush
scored on a 6-yard run with 4:16 left in the game on Friday, as the Patriots
defeated Wallenpaupack, 20-15, in an Eastern Conference Class AAAA semifinal.
Pittston Area (4-7) visits Bangor (10-1), 19-0 winners over Shamokin, next
Friday in the EC AAAA championship game. Wallenpaupack’s season ends at 9-2.
Kevin Shotwell scored on a 7-yard run in the first quarter, and John
Widdick caught Steve Pisano’s only completion for a 12-yard touchdown pass in
the second quarter for a 14-0 Pittston Area lead.
Damien Allen’s 8-yard run got the Buckhorns with 14-8 in the third quarter.
Pittston Area, which was flagged for 18 penalties totaling 172 yards,
clinched the victory with Klush’s touchdown run.
A.J. Oliveri rushed for 123 yards for the Patriots. Shotwell added 67
yards.
