Former patient found Dr. Polin to be conscientous, caring, and careful

Last October I read a story in this paper about a woman who gave birth to
twins and died. This article sparked my interest because her doctor, Dr. Mark
Polin, was also my doctor three years ago when I was pregnant with my son

DanielFirst of all, let me say that my heart goes out to the family of
Teresa Linn Carey because this was surely a tragedy. Why this happened I don’t
know, but I do know that Dr. Polin is a doctor who cares about his patients
and would not intentionally leave anyone who needed his help.

My blood pressure shot up during week 30 of my pregnancy. He admitted me
into Nesbitt Hospital, but five hours later told me that he was sending me to
Lehigh Valley Hospital. In case I should deliver early, they would be better
equipped to take care of me and my low birth-weight baby. His exact words to
me were, “You may go there and they may say everything is OK and send you
home, but I’d rather be safe than sorry.”

I did go to Lehigh Valley Hospital and three days later ultrasound showed
no baby movement, and Dr. Atlas made the call to deliver my son by Caesarean
section. Daniel was born weighing 2 pounds 10 ounces. The cord was wrapped
three times around his neck, and he could have died.

I realize that it was the doctors at Lehigh Valley that chose to deliver
Daniel at that point. If Dr. Polin hadn’t made the decision to send me there,
they never would have had the chance to work this miracle for us.

Dr. Polin checked on me while I was there and when I came home, he called
to see how I was. Does this sound like a doctor who doesn’t care about his
patients?

He saw a situation and his only concern was that his patient get the best
care possible even if it meant going to a different doctor and a different
hospital. I’m glad he wasn’t the kind of doctor who thought he could take care
of any problem, because my husband and I may not have our son today.

I’m sure many people could relate similar stories of Dr. Polin’
