    Arlene A. Kester, 76, formerly of Nescopeck, died Wednesday afternoon at
the
   
Berwick Retirement Village, where she has lived for the past three
yearsBorn in Williamsport on June 15, 1918, she was a daughter of the late
Wesley and Eva Grotten Matthews.
   
She lived in Shickshinny before moving to Nescopeck, where she lived for
eight years.
   
She was a graduate of Williamsport High School.
   
She retired as a cook from the Berwick Elks Lodge and was previously
employed as a cook at LaBar’s Truckstop for more than 10 years.
   
She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose, Berwick, and the former
Nescopeck Free Methodist Church.
   
She was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 1964.
   
Surviving are children, Eva Kemper, Berwick; William, Bloomsburg; Robert,
Berwick; Donald, Danville; Jack E., Wilkes-Barre; 11 grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Masser and brothers, Raymond
